Last week Aaron parents came into town, and it was fabulous seeing Ma and Papa! The girls adore them and were constantly bombarding them. There is something special about grandparents that kids pick up on real quick. Therefore, they understand more love means more treats. So here is a quick rundown on our fun-filled week.
Bruce and Alynda flew in late Friday night. Girls were already asleep.
SATURDAY started bright and early for Aaron and Bruce who ran a 5k that started in Minnesota and ended in Wisconsin. Apparently the last 1/2 mile was a complete down-pour. They were soaked to the bone. Later that afternoon, Bruce, Alynda and Aaron were able to go to the Minnesota Vikings football camp. They had sideline passes and had a "ball," (if you will). They have a friend that works as the Career Development of the players who got them the passes, and afterwards called them over to meet the players. Aaron has found his dream job. It's a bit off his career path right now, brand manager vs. football... brand manager vs. football.... take a guess which one he would prefer. We also did some shopping later that night, and got caught in a major thunderstorm. By the time we got home it was insane! It was a little frightening trying to get kids into the house between lighting strikes and the thunder. Once we were inside the tornado sirens started going off. We found out the next morning a few tornadoes touched down about 10 miles from our house. All my nightmares have come flooding back. I'm terrified of tornadoes. Luckily, these tornadoes didn't really do much damage and no one was hurt.
SUNDAY is when the fun really started. In keeping with true Wilson traditions I had to play a few pranks on our guests. Aaron and I taped the sprayer handle down on our kitchen sink, so anyone who went to wash dishes or hands would get soaked by the sprayer full in the gut. The anticipation just about killed us waiting for an unsuspecting Ma or Papa to fall for the trap. However, the downside is, we often forgot about it ourselves and would flip on the water before we remembered what we had done. Aaron soaked himself within 10 minutes of setting the trap. And later that day soaked myself 2 or 3 times (I lost count) within an hour. We had two sets of missionaries over for dinner that night, and we successfully got two of the four to fall for it. Hee, hee, no mercy in our house. I also attempted to short-sheet Ma and Papa's bed, but they didn't even notice. They were sleeping on an air mattress, which proved to be a challenge to short sheet. They just thought the sheet was bunched funny. Touche, next time I'll get you!
On MONDAY Ma and Papa took Zoe out for a fun date. She was so excited.

WEDNESDAYwe went to Duluth. Aaron and I have never been, and thought it would be fun to take Bruce and Alynda. We spent the afternoon downtown looking through shops and playing at the pier. We dipped our feet in Lake Superior and skipped rocks. Bruce and Aaron have quite the talent. My rocks never did more than one skip. The girls loved it. It's the only time I freely let them throw handfuls of rocks. They didn't want to leave. We spent the night in a cabin, that slopped slightly and had a blast.
The "Madagascar" boat that passed right by us while we were on the pier. Zoe called it that, but I have to agree, it does look like the movie's boat.
THURSDAY we went to the famous Split Rock light house. It was goregous. We got there early in the morning and the thick fog was rolling in off the lake. It was amazing. We took some really cool pictures. In the afternoon we went to Gooseberry Falls and played in the waterfalls. They have great wadding pools at the bottom of the falls and Zoe could have spent all day there. They are perfect for little kids to climb on the rocks and the waterpools are not too deep. On our way out of town we stopped at Betty's Pies. Which were good, but not worth the wait. Apparently everyone in Duluth had the same idea we did. It was packed and we had to wait 35 minutes to just get take out.
A view from the bottom of the rocks.
The fam looking super sweet in the humidity.

The fog rolling in. It was so thick.
Ma and Papa left early Friday morning. It ws so fun having them here. Thanks for a great time Bruce and Alynda!

Sounds like it was so much fun. I can't believe how big the girls are! They are adorable! I miss you guys so much.
That looks like so much fun. The family picture is great. I think Quinners has grown just since we saw her a few weeks ago. So cute. Hopefully, we'll see you guys again soon. (Labor Day weekend?)
Your girls are getting so big! It sounds like you guys had a lot of fun, minus the tornado business of course.
Cool Pics Erin! You've got quite the touch. They look like Ansel Adams. I'd frame it and put it in my beach house. Someday when I have a beach house, remember that. i'll expect it as a house-warming gift.
What a fun week. Your black and white picture of the lighthouse and the fog was awesome.
